“I happened to be picking up some fosters from the Peterborough Humane Society’s Spay-Neuter Clinic and stopped in to see the cats for adoption,” Russell said. “I often go in and make videos of the adoptable cats to share on social media and hopefully find them homes.
Finding Minnie A Home
Minnie has been at the Peterborough Humane Society since August after a member of the community found her as a stray. Rachel Norris, the placement coordinator for the humane society told Newsweek via email that their medical team couldn’t find any specific reason or condition that caused her weight gain, so they believe it was “poor diet and overfeeding.”

She currently weighs 27 pounds, but an ideal weight would be around 15-17 pounds, according to Norris. While they’ve begun the early steps of her weight loss already, it’s a very slow process, so they hope Minnie can be adopted by someone willing to help her through this journey.
So far, Minnie has received some adoption interest but she’s still waiting to find her forever home. The perfect home would be quiet, preferably without young children, and with an owner who is willing to give her the healthy lifestyle she deserves.
