Obama releases rare statement after Trump claimed former president was ‘guilty’ of ‘treason’

Part 2 of 2

Gabbard has since threatened to refer senior Obama-era officials to the Justice Department for prosecution related to the matter.

Obama’s Office Calls Out ‘Bizarre’ Accusations

Obama’s spokesperson, Patrick Rodenbush, has now spoken out in response to Trump’s remarks. “Out of respect for the office of the presidency, our office does not normally dignify the constant nonsense and misinformation flowing out of this White House with a response,” Rodenbush said. “But these claims are outrageous enough to merit one.”

He added, “These bizarre allegations are ridiculous and a weak attempt at distraction.”

Rodenbush pointed to the 2020 bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee report, which confirmed that Russia had indeed worked to help Trump win the 2016 election. The report detailed how Russian interference was carried out in part through Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort and the WikiLeaks platform.

“Nothing in the document issued last week (by Gabbard) undercuts the widely accepted conclusion that Russia worked to influence the 2016 presidential election but did not successfully manipulate any votes,” Rodenbush emphasized.

MAGA Movement Splinters Over Epstein Files

These heated accusations come at a time when Trump’s base is already showing signs of internal division. The Trump administration’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein investigation has sparked backlash, even among MAGA supporters.

Earlier this month, US Attorney General Pam Bondi declared that no further Epstein-related documents would be released and stated that there was no “client list”—a statement that contradicted her earlier remarks.

The announcement stirred concern and criticism within the MAGA community. A recent ‘Student Action Summit’ hosted by conservative youth group Turning Point USA featured the Epstein files as a major point of debate, revealing growing tensions within the movement.
