Barack and Michelle Obama break silence together on divorce rumours with refreshingly honest confession

Part 1 of 2

After months of rumors swirling about the state of their relationship, Barack and Michelle Obama are finally speaking out.

A Rocky Patch in the Past

Speculation about potential marital troubles began back in 2022, when Michelle candidly admitted there was a period where she could “barely stand” Barack during their daughters’ younger years.

Speaking to CBS, she revealed: “People think I’m being petty when I say this—but there were ten years when I just couldn’t stand my husband. And guess when it was? When the kids were little.”

Michelle, now 61, added: “For a whole decade, we were both trying to juggle our careers, manage school schedules, and deal with everyday life. And I just remember thinking, ‘Ugh, this isn’t balanced at all.’”

Barack Admits He Wasn’t Always Present

The next year, Barack, 63, reflected on how being president affected his family life, subtly hinting at the strain it placed on Michelle and their daughters, Malia (now 27) and Sasha (24).

Discussing life after his presidency, he told a news outlet: “Let me just say—it’s a relief to be out of the White House and finally have more time with her.”

He continued: “Even though I was involved as a dad, I don’t think I fully understood the level of stress Michelle was under. We weren’t just in the public eye—she was raising our girls in a situation that was anything but normal.”

Putting the Rumors to Rest

In an episode of the IMO podcast that Michelle co-hosts with her brother, Craig Robinson, the couple addressed the speculation head-on with their usual sense of humor.
