A millionaire marries a poor, plain gardener just to get revenge on his ex — but on their wedding night, he’s stunned to realize… something’s off about her!

Part 1 of 2

Thomas Brown stood in his Seattle penthouse, staring out at the glittering skyline, his heart still raw from betrayal.

Rebecca Lewis, once his fiancée, had left him for a rival—choosing chaos over stability. The heartbreak wasn’t just personal; it had played out publicly, painfully. That night, Thomas vowed to regain control.

His plan? Find someone completely unlike Rebecca. Someone grounded. Real.

The next morning, on his estate, he noticed Sarah Cooper, the gardener. Dirt on her hands, focused on her work, she radiated quiet strength. A brief conversation revealed she’d worked there two years and was supporting a sick mother.

She was the contrast he needed.

Days later, Thomas made his move—a proposal of convenience.

He offered to pay her mother’s medical bills in exchange for pretending to be his wife.

Sarah was appalled. “You’re using people,” she said.

“I’m offering a trade. We both get something,” he countered.

She agreed—not for him, but for her mother. “I’ll do it. But I don’t trust you.”

Their first appearance as a couple was at a lavish party. Sarah, in a modest blue dress, drew curious stares. Rebecca was there, of course.

“Well, this is… unexpected,” she said with a saccharine smile.

Thomas replied coolly, “Sarah is everything I ever wanted—real and loyal.”

Though nervous, Sarah held her own.

Later, Rebecca cornered Thomas. “This little charade? Pathetic.”

“What bothers you, Rebecca? That I moved on—or that you didn’t break me?”

Sarah, meanwhile, overheard whispers and endured icy stares. At dinner with Thomas’s associates, she tried to fit in but felt out of place.

“You’re just using me,” she later snapped at Thomas.

“You agreed—”

“For my mother. Not to be treated like I don’t matter.”

Her words cut deep. Thomas didn’t respond. For the first time, he wasn’t sure of his own game.

Things slowly began to shift. On a trip to a charity event, the silence between them felt less heavy.

At the hotel, Sarah wore a graceful dress. Thomas was visibly surprised.

“You look nice,” he said.

“Thank you.”

The evening was polished, the crowd intimidating. But Sarah kept her composure. Later, they spoke quietly, genuinely.

“I grew up simple,” she said. “Took care of my mum after my dad died.”

Thomas listened, something softening in him.

“And you?” she asked.

“My father wanted perfection. I wasn’t ready. Then Rebecca…” he paused. “I thought I loved her. I was wrong.”

They saw one another differently now.

Then came the threats—anonymous notes warning Sarah she didn’t belong. She hid them, unwilling to show weakness. Rebecca stayed close, always calculating.

Eventually, Thomas found the letters.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” he demanded.

“It’s not your concern,” she said.
