Tips and Tricks

You’ll never see mosquitoes again if you do this

As more people look for ways to reduce their exposure to synthetic chemicals, homemade air fresheners have become a popular alternative.

They’re affordable, simple to make, and allow for personalized scents using natural ingredients you likely already have in your kitchen or garden.

The recipe below creates a refreshing blend designed to energize your home and boost well-being. The bright, clean scent of lemon pairs perfectly with the coolness of mint, while cinnamon adds a cozy, comforting undertone.

Unlike store-bought sprays, this natural option won’t fill your space with harmful aerosols or leave behind chemical residues.

What You’ll Need
  • 300 ml of warm water
  • 1 tablespoon of dried peppermint or a few drops of peppermint essential oil
  • 1 tablespoon of dried flowers (such as lavender or chamomile) or a few drops of lavender essential oil
  • 100 ml of fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 tablespoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1 spray bottle (preferably made of dark glass to protect essential oils)
How to Make It

1. Brew the base infusion
Warm the water in a small pot (do not boil). Add the dried mint and flowers. Let steep for 10 to 15 minutes so the herbs can release their full fragrance.

2. Strain the herbs
Pour the liquid through a fine mesh strainer to remove the herbs, ensuring no solid pieces remain.

3. Combine the ingredients
Mix the strained infusion with the lemon juice and ground cinnamon in a clean bowl. Stir well to fully dissolve the cinnamon.

4. Add essential oils (optional)
If you want a stronger aroma, replace the dried herbs with a few drops of peppermint or lavender essential oil.

5. Bottle your freshener
Carefully pour the finished mixture into your spray bottle using a funnel. Give the bottle a good shake before each use.

Helpful Tips for Use and Storage

Shelf life
Since this recipe doesn’t use any preservatives, it’s best to store your air freshener in a cool, dark spot and use it within two weeks.

Customize your scent
Feel free to explore different herb and oil combinations. Try rosemary and orange for an energizing twist.

Test on fabric first
While this spray is great for freshening up any space, be sure to spot test on curtains, linens, or upholstery before spraying generously to avoid staining.

Multiple uses
Besides spritzing it in the air, you can use this blend on pillows, rugs, or even in your car for a clean, natural scent wherever you go.

A Simple Way to Create a Healthier Home

This easy-to-make air freshener lets you control exactly what goes into your living space. With just a few natural ingredients and a little effort, you can enjoy a cleaner, more personalized atmosphere—free from the harsh chemicals found in most commercial products.
