‘Update’ on King Charles’ cancer treatment as monarch embarks on ‘challenging’ Canada trip

An update has been shared regarding King Charles and his cancer treatment during his two-day visit to Canada.

King Charles, 76, and Queen Camilla, 77, arrived in Ottawa yesterday (May 26) for the king’s first official trip to Canada since becoming monarch.

This short but significant visit takes place while the king is still receiving cancer treatment.

Royal insiders stress that the trip is planned to be brief and carefully balanced to accommodate the king’s health while fulfilling his royal duties.

King Charles Continues Cancer Treatment Amid Canada Visit

Despite his ongoing cancer treatment, King Charles made a quick 36-hour visit to Canada with Queen Camilla. According to sources, the short trip was intense but carefully planned so he could return in time for his regular treatment.

The visit, originally meant to be longer, was delayed due to Charles’s diagnosis and Canada’s electoral cycle. A longer tour may still happen in the future.

On May 26, the royal couple met with Governor General Mary Simon and Prime Minister Mark Carney. Queen Camilla was officially sworn into Canada’s Privy Council. They also planted a tree near one from their 2017 visit and ended the day with a reception attended by provincial and territorial leaders.

King Charles and Queen Camilla Visit Ottawa

On day two of their visit, King Charles will open Canada’s Parliament—only the second time a monarch has done so, following Queen Elizabeth II in 1957. He will deliver the Speech from the Throne in the Senate Chamber, joined by Queen Camilla.

The trip will end with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, honoring Canada’s fallen heroes.

Despite ongoing health issues, King Charles’s visit shows the monarchy’s lasting sense of duty and connection to Canada.
