Princess Charlotte will be surrounded by her nearest and dearest today as she celebrates her 10th birthday. The only daughter of Prince William, 42, and Princess Kate, 43, is likely to celebrate the special occasion with her parents, along with her siblings Prince George, 11, and Prince Louis, seven.
As she celebrates her special day, the young royal is likely to be spoiled with gifts and affection. While her exact birthday plans are not known, there is no doubt her family will make the day as special as they possibly can for her.
To celebrate Princess Charlotte’s birthday, here are 13 of the best photographs of the young royal…

Prince William and Princess Kate welcomed their only daughter Princess Charlotte into the world 10 years ago at 8.34am on May 2, 2015. Charlotte, whose full name is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, was born at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London, and weighed 8lb 3oz. At the time of her birth, she was fourth in line to the throne, and is now third in line.

Princess Charlotte has always been seen as one of the more confident royal children, having waved to crowds from a young age. Royal fans over the years have also drawn comparisons between Charlotte and Queen Elizabeth II, both through their looks and their royal waving.

Princess Charlotte is likely to be important for the monarchy when she becomes an adult. This is because she is third-in-line to the throne and will likely be called on to support her dad Prince William when he becomes King, and her brother Prince George when he then takes to the throne.

In September 2019, Princess Charlotte started school at Thomas’s Battersea in London, joining her older brother Prince George. This was when the family lived at Kensington Palace. While the royal children were happy at this school, they only stayed there until 2022 when they then started at Lambrook School in Berkshire. This decision was made as the family decided to relocate from London to Windsor.

While she is a royal, Princess Charlotte has some fairly ordinary hobbies and is believed to like ballet and gymnastics. On a royal engagement, Princess Kate once shared how much her daughter loves dancing. She could be heard saying: “My daughter Charlotte likes dancing, she loves ballet and tap…Keep up the dancing!”

The young royal often catches the attention of royal fans as she is seen keeping her brothers in check. Over the years, Charlotte has been seen reminding her older brother of royal protocal, and has tried to keep her younger brother Prince Louis in check.

Princess Charlotte is also very close to her mum Princess Kate and seems to have adopted some of her mannerisms over the last few years. At Wimbledon, royal fans couldn’t help but notice how much Charlotte was like her mum, with both her mannerisms and her actions, with many noting how the mother-and-daughter duo were both playing with their hair in exactly the same way.

Princess Charlotte has a very sweet relationship with her dad Prince William, who is often seen holding the young royal’s hand at royal events. Last year, Charlotte even made her dad a sweet bracelet to wear when he went on a solo work trip overseas to Cape Town. The bracelet said ‘Papa’.

Princess Charlotte loves sports as much as her parents and older brother Prince George. At Wimbledon in 2023, the royal could be seen cheering and crossing her fingers from the royal box, where she sat with Princess Kate, Prince William and Prince George. The princess is believed to be a big tennis fan.

Princess Charlotte has two sweet nicknames she is called at home, as revealed by Prince William and Princess Kate over the years. As well as the proud parents calling her Lottie, they are also believed to sometimes call her “mignonette”. Prince William was once heard calling her this French word which reportedly means “little darling” or “cutie.”

It was previously reported that Princess Charlotte had an interest in nursing. Palace sources previously revealed that Princess Charlotte would like to become a nurse after Prince William taught her and her brothers about the important work that NHS staff do.
Speaking of the young royal, a Palace source told New Idea: “She’s obviously just a little kid but still, Will and Kate swelled with pride. She’s such a caring little girl who also knows what she wants, so they wouldn’t be surprised if she does take on nursing as one of her big causes when she’s older.”

Although she has only done very few walkabouts, Princess Charlotte seems to be very popular with the public when she steps out. Last Christmas, fans could be seen handing the princess presents and calling her over for selfies, which she happily agreed to.

Princess Charlotte could one day inherit Princess Anne’s title one day. The Princess Royal title is typically given to the eldest daughter of the monarch and was bestowed on Anne when her mother Queen Elizabeth II was on the throne. Charlotte is likely to be given this title after Anne passes away and when Prince William becomes King.
