Since their relationship first became public in 2003, the Prince and Princess of Wales have always kept things pretty private—especially when it comes to showing affection in public.
In fact, you can probably count on one hand how many times they’ve kissed in front of the cameras. And when it comes to talking about each other in interviews, Kate and William have always stayed pretty quiet.
So, it came as a surprise to fans of the future King and Queen this week when a lip reader claimed that Kate was seen expressing affection for William during a recent royal event.
The couple appeared in London on May 8th with their three children—Prince George (11), Princess Charlotte (10), and Prince Louis (7)—to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
VE Day celebrates the surrender of Germany in World War II and honors those who lost their lives during the conflict.
Earlier today, the whole family attended a church service as part of the official events. That came just three days after they were seen watching the annual VE Day parade from the balcony at Buckingham Palace, alongside King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
Much of the attention on Monday was focused on little Prince Louis, who once again stole the spotlight with his famously cheeky behavior.
According to body language expert Nicola Hickling, who spoke to The Sun earlier this week, Kate was seen leaning toward Charlotte and asking, “Doesn’t Papa look smart today?”, referring to Prince William, who was dressed in his military uniform.
I mean, come on Kate — control yourself!
Anyway, one of the most talked-about moments from this week’s events involved Prince Louis, and for several reasons.
The young royal — who already went viral during the late Queen’s 2022 Jubilee for making funny faces — was reportedly getting bored with the formalities and started asking questions about the weather.
Hickling says that William told him, “Look at this I think it’s going to be quite wet today”, to which Louis cheekily replied, “Wasn’t this supposed to be fun?”
Even though William stayed calm and told him, “It’s not going to be long and I want you to be taking an interest”, Louis was later seen joking around with his older brother, Prince George.

As seen in footage shared by Sky News, there was a moment when George ran his fingers through his blond hair to push it out of his face — and right after, Louis did the same thing, clearly copying him but in a much more dramatic way.
“Prince Louis copying his brother Prince George is so funny,” one royal fan wrote on social media.
“I cannot with Prince Louis. Look at him mimicking Prince George and adding some ‘snazz’ to it. He is truly the moment,” joked a second.
A third person added: “That child IS EXTRA.”
