Dog Barks at Coffin during Funeral, Suspicious Son Opens It and Finds It Empty – Story of the Day

Ryan gets suspicious when his dog races into the church and starts barking at his father’s coffin. Seeing the dog in an alert position, Ryan opens the casket, only to find his father’s body missing.

I went to my dad’s funeral with Bella, his dog. She’s usually cool with chilling in the car when I say so, but… NOT THIS TIME. So, there we were, doing the whole emotional goodbye thing with Dad, and out of nowhere, Bella just bursts in, barking her head off at the casket. I immediately realized something was wrong and decided to trust her. I opened the lid, only to find it empty.

At my mom’s house, I called Detective Bradshaw. The coroner confirmed Dad’s death and released the body, with no new leads. Bradshaw asked if Dad had any shady connections. I said no.

With Mom in the hospital, I left Bella at home and went to the morgue. The nurse told me the coroner had resigned, and the file was gone. I bribed her with $1,000, but found nothing.

Dad’s lawyer called, saying I was now CEO and needed to meet him. At the office, I logged into Dad’s Gmail. Everything was deleted. Then I noticed two dancer figurines were missing. Stevens claimed Dad had taken them, but I knew they weren’t there.

Stevens continued, telling me the company was in debt, investors were pulling out, and Dad had been skipping meetings, especially after his new secretary arrived. “I think they were having an affair,” he added.

I spent the day stalling investors, then followed Miss Pearson to a suburban garage. I sneaked inside, found a framed photo of her with Dad, and uncovered a Manila envelope containing Dad’s $7 million life insurance policy, with her as the beneficiary.

I rushed to the police, and Bradshaw uncovered Pearson was about to fly to Morocco, where the U.S. had no extradition treaty. I followed, but she vanished at the airport.

Determined, I tracked down the collector who owned the third figurine. He demanded $750,000. I called Stevens to sell shares and raise the money. I bought the figurine and advertised its auction, hoping Dad would show.

At the auction, I heard a voice call, “$1 million!” It was Dad. He stood up, just as Bradshaw arrested him.

“Ryan?” Dad gasped. “You tricked me!”

“No,” I replied. “You faked your death, abandoned Mom, and ran off with your mistress.”

He looked down. “I was tired… I wanted a new life.”

“You forged your death, bribed a coroner, made us mourn a lie?” I stared him down. “You taught me, ‘A man should do what is right, not follow his selfish interests.’ Remember?”

Bradshaw confirmed Miss Pearson would be caught soon. Then Dad was taken away.
