‘I Would Be Embarrassed to Share That’: Meghan Markle’s Waffles She Cooked for Her Kids Sparked Buzz

The Duchess of Sussex’s attempt at a festive breakfast took an unexpected twist when sharp-eyed followers picked apart the details, igniting an online debate that quickly escalated.

Meghan Markle’s latest social media post, showcasing her homemade St. Patrick’s Day waffles, has faced significant backlash from royal watchers.

On March 17, 2025, the 43-year-old mother of two shared a series of Instagram Stories, capturing the process of making green-colored waffles for her family’s holiday celebration.

In the videos, Meghan was seen mixing a vibrant green batter before pouring it into a steaming black cast-iron waffle maker. She captioned one of the clips, “We love a theme!” to emphasize the festive nature of the meal.

For the final presentation, she created a fun, decorated waffle for her children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3. The design featured blueberries for eyes, a kiwi slice for a mouth, and whipped cream as hair. “For the kids…” she wrote alongside the image.

She also made a simpler version for herself and Prince Harry, 40, serving it with strawberries and cream. “… and us! Happy St. Patrick’s Day!” she added.

However, social media users were quick to spot a possible inconsistency between the waffle maker shown in the video and the waffles served. Some pointed out that the waffles on the plate didn’t match the distinct pattern of the iron used in the footage.

The waffle maker in the video had deep ridges designed to divide the waffles into four sections, yet the final dish appeared smoother and lacked those characteristic indentations.

Meghan’s holiday meal sparked a wave of mixed reactions online. Some people questioned whether the waffles actually came from the waffle maker shown in the video, while others appreciated her effort and festive spirit.

On Facebook, users didn’t hold back their opinions. “The waffle she served did not come from that waffle maker, otherwise it would have 4 sections,” one person observed.

Another commenter was more critical: “I would be embarrassed to share that, seriously has she no one around her advising her or does she refuse advice [sic].” Meanwhile, someone else simply remarked, “Looks pretty unappetizing to me.”

Instagram users also had their say, offering a mix of skepticism and support. “I wonder is that the waffle maker the late Queen sent Archie for Christmas [sic],” one person speculated. But a fan enthusiastically wrote, “Love EVERYTHING this woman does!!”

Meanwhile, users on X shared their opinions on the matter. One observant commenter noted, “That waffle was clearly not made in a waffle maker toy can tell as the squares are too small and missing the cross indent a waffle maker leaves. It is an Eggo dipped in green food dye.”

Royal supporters also chimed in, with one person simply commenting, “Sweet,” while another praised Meghan, saying, “Princess Meghan is a woman of substance and very thoughtful and intelligent.”

Meghan’s St. Patrick’s Day breakfast was supposed to be a cheerful family celebration, but it ended up sparking discussion online. Whether her waffles matched the waffle maker or not, the moment certainly didn’t go unnoticed by royal watchers.
