Discovery Strikingly beautiful bird with vibrant plumage and a long, impressive tail

The Lady Amherst’s Pheasant (Chrysolophus amherstiae) is a captivating and distinctive bird known for its striking and intricate plumage. It boasts a mesmerizing combination of iridescent emerald green and shimmering blue on its head, while the rest of its body is adorned with an intricate pattern of black, white, and gold feathers. The most remarkable feature of this pheasant is its long and elaborate tail, which can extend up to twice the length of its body. The tail feathers are predominantly black with white markings and are characterized by an impressive and eye-catching “eye” pattern near the tip.

Native to the high-altitude regions of Tibet and southwestern China, the Lady Amherst’s Pheasant inhabits dense, wooded areas and forested hillsides.
