Tips and Tricks

Try this trick at home: No more flies or cockroaches after an hour

Flies and cockroaches are not only annoying, but also carriers of germs and diseases. If you’re looking for a natural and effective alternative to eliminate them without resorting to harsh chemicals, this homemade trick may be the solution.

It’s a repellent spray made with garlic and vinegar , two powerful and easy-to-find ingredients that, when combined, form a barrier that keeps these insects away in less than an hour.

How to prepare insect repellent spray

This simple yet powerful trick is not only effective, but also economical and environmentally friendly. Try it and you’ll notice the difference in less than an hour.

Ingredients

  • 1 head of garlic
  • 1 glass of white vinegar (approximately 200 ml)
  • 2 glasses of water (approximately 400 ml)
  • 1 clean sprayer

Step-by-step preparation

1. Preparing the garlic

  • Peel 4 to 5 cloves of garlic.
  • Lightly crush them with a knife to release their aroma and active properties.

2. Garlic infusion

  • Place the garlic cloves in a pot with the two glasses of water.
  • Bring to a boil and let it boil for 3 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and let stand covered for 10 minutes.
  • Once it’s cold, filter the liquid to remove any solids.

3. Preparing the spray

  • Pour the filtered infusion into the clean sprayer.
  • Add the glass of white vinegar.
  • Shake gently to mix the ingredients well.

How to use

  • Spray the liquid in areas prone to insect infestation , such as kitchens, bathrooms, near doors and windows, under the sink, behind appliances or furniture.
  • Apply especially in corners, damp areas or areas with food remains , where cockroaches tend to hide and where flies tend to land.
  • Repeat application once a day for several days or every time you clean the house to maintain the protective effect.

Why is this repellent so effective?

  • Garlic contains allicin, a natural compound with antimicrobial properties and a pungent odor that insects detest.
  • White vinegar acts as a disinfectant and odor enhancer, making the environment less attractive to flies and cockroaches.
  • The combination of both ingredients not only repels but also disorients these insects, forcing them to leave the area.

Additional tips

  • If you want to enhance the effect, you can add a few drops of eucalyptus or mint essential oil , which also act as natural repellents.
  • Do not spray directly on food, utensils, or cooking surfaces. Use the spray around those areas.
  • Store the preparation in a cool place and shake well before each use.
  • If there is a severe infestation, you can complement this remedy with deep cleaning and eco-friendly traps.
